I remember ...

... walking to the trainstation at an ungodly hour to go to Antwerp to see the bird market.

I remember ...

... sitting on a bench which was situated in a river. This was not a permanent situation, the river was just having an amazingly high water week. Like, 5 meters higher than usual. And ofcourse, my parents being who they are, they took us there. And it was, well, awesome. You know, for me. Who did not live there. In Deventer, by the way. So, I sat there. On a bench. In a river.

I remember ...

... a cassette tape, green with yellow. It had Iron Maiden's Powerslave on it. My grandfather had copied the album to that cassette for me. Unfortunately, it was a cassette of dubious quality. I do rememebr my grandfather being rather gruff about my chosen music, saying that those bands never really knew how to finish a song and always used fade-outs. But then, he was heavily into classical music, so a fade-out is impossible there unless the orchestra slowly moves away from the audience ... I did get my grandfather, and my father who was there too, to listen to Iron Maiden's Powerslave, though. Maybe a personal triumph.

I remember ...

... waking up on a swaying boat, travelling down the IJssel in the summer holidays. It was warm and noisy and there was the comforting smell of the diesel engine and i stumbled out of bed to breakfast.
